Marilyn Sylvia McElroy

Marilyn Sylvia McElroy, lifelong Preston and Okmulgee area resident, died Saturday morning, November 5, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 66 years of age. Mrs. McElroy was born December 12, 1938 in Preston to Floyd and Sylvia (Pannell) Turner. She worked at the Preston Water Office for over 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, camping and fishing and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Preston Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Kathy Pope-Murphy and a brother Jerry Turner. Survivors include her three sons, Rick McElroy and wife Kim of Okmulgee, Jim McElroy and wife Gilberetta of Sapulpa, and Gary McElroy and wife Sherri of Natura, a sister, Janet Smith and husband Ronal of Preston, seven grandchildren, Lisa Chisum, Krista, Garrett, Bailey, Jason, Darbi and Dax McElroy and two great grandchildren, Hailey Chisum and Tarynn McElroy.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the Preston Baptist Church with Mr. Jim Waller officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Steve Basquez, Joey Basquez, Jarritt Basquez, Barty Pope, Christopher Howk and Nicholas Howk. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12-8 PM on Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
