Vernie Ralph McNutt, Sr.

Vernie Ralph McNutt, Sr., longtime Beggs resident, passed away Monday, April 28, 2003 at St. John Medical Center at the age of 70. He was born October 14, 1932 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Homer "Pete" Hayes and Hazel Etta (Tannehill) McNutt. He attended Conners State College and had been a member of the ROTC 45th Division. He was a rancher and an insurance agent. He enjoyed leather work and painting. His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Hazel McNutt, of Beggs, four daughters, Veronica Daggs of Yukon, Laura Casey of Joplin, Kathleen McNutt of Claremore, and Cheryl Kaskie of Tulsa, one son, Vernie R. McNutt, Jr. of Pryor, a sister, May McNutt of Beggs, and eight grandchildren, April Turney, Holly Foot, Natalie, Amanda and Haylee Coleman, and Jaime, Derrick and Beth McNutt.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church of Beggs with Reverend Ben Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10-8 on Wednesday.
