Dorothy Vernell Mooney

Dorothy Vernell Mooney 69, longtime resident of the Morris area died in Stillwater on Friday, July 18, 2003. She and her husband had recently moved to Stillwater to near their daughter. Dorothy was born in Greenville, Texas on October 22, 1934 to Thomas w. and Georgia Lee (Key) Jenkins. She married Bruce Mooney in Muskogee, Oklahoma on December 20, 1957. She was baptized at the Park Avenue Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. Her life was a testament to her faith in Jesus Christ. All who knew and loved her will miss her beyond measure. She loved spending time with her family and many friends. Her mother, Georgia Lee Key, a daughter, Sheri Michele Mooney and a brother, G.W. Jenkins preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Bruce Mooney of the home, a daughter Tina and son in law John "Butch" Koemel of Stillwater, three grandchildren Thomas Michael Koemel, Nicholas Andrew Kemel and Grace Ellen Koemel.

Funeral services will be on Monday, July 21, 2003 at 1 pm at the Trinity Baptist Church in Morris, Oklahoma. Dr. Gene Key will officiate. Burial will be in the Forrest Park Cemetery in Greenville, Texas at 11 am on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Sunday at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee from 12 to 8 pm. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday 4 until 6 pm. The family suggests memorials in Dorothy’s name be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607-1460.

Pallbearers will be Dave Miller, Bob Miller, Tony Nichols, Harold Conrad, Scot Bunch and H.G. McChesney. Honorary pallbearer, Dean Conrad.
