McCLENDON-WINTERS FUNERAL HOME "Dignity without Compromise"
Hazel Morris
Longtime Okmulgee resident Hazel Morris,
devoted mother and loving friend, went to be with her Lord
on February 19. She was 59. She is survived by her two sons, Danny
Morris and Jerry Morris; her mother, Pauline Morrow; her
sister, Angela Young; her sister’s children, Danielle Young
and Reid Young; and Dusty, the family dog. She is preceded
in death by her husband Jerry Morris and her father, Daniel
Morrow. She leaves behind numerous other family members and
beloved friends. In January 2006, Hazel retired from
Okmulgee Memorial Hospital, where she worked for more than
thirty years. During her career in the business office and
other administrative posts, she was involved in several
community and civic endeavors, including the Okmulgee
Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s Health Forum, CASA, and the
Okmulgee Safehouse. She spent most of her time fulfilling her
main passion in life-spending time with her family. Other
interests included classic Hollywood movies, home decorating
and design television programs, television game shows,
vacationing in the Ozark Mountains, and listening to Gospel
music. Hazel was a woman of great faith and her
belief in and love for God defined who she was. She
treasured the wonderful friendships and fellowship from
years of attending Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church and
First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee. She was active in
church most of her life until declining health in recent
years prevented her from attending. In recent years, she
faithfully watched and was ministered to by the broadcasts
of Billy Graham, Adrian Rogers, and Joel Osteen. Hazel’s was a life well-lived and a life
of purpose that fulfilled what God called her to do. She was
a loving mother to her two sons and a trusted and caring
friend to countless individuals. She was the world’s best
mom and she had a tremendous heart and sweet spirit. Family
and friends will truly miss her, yet we rejoice in knowing
she is home at last, in Heaven. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M.
Friday, February 23, 2007 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral
Home Chapel with Reverends David Burrows and Raymond Doke
officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
The casket will remain closed. Memorials in Hazel’s name may
be sent to the House of Hope, P.O. Box 451585, Grove, OK
74345-1585. |
