Mary Lou Nelson

Mary Lou Nelson, longtime Council Hill resident, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She was 80 years of age. Mrs. Nelson was born August 11, 1928 in Turley, Oklahoma to Benjamine H. and Cleta Georgia (Ladd) Williford. She married Homer D. Nelson and worked in the Muskogee County Court Clerk’s Office for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Council Hill Methodist Church. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Survivors include her sons, Larry Nelson and Ron Nelson, both of Council Hill, grandsons, Scott Wayne Nelson of Council Hill and Chad Allen Nelson of California and great grandchildren, Blake Wayne, B.J., Baron, Ashley and Chelsea Nelson.

Viewing will be Wednesday from 12-7 and Thursday 9-7. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Graveside rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Council Hill Cemetery with Reverend Wayne Loftin officiating. The family has requested casual dress.
