Francile Newman
Francile Pauline Franklin Newman, 93, died on Friday, May 1,
in Birmingham, Alabama where she has resided for the past eleven years. A
graveside service is schedule for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at Okmulgee
Cemetery. Bill Elder, pastor of Mountaintop Church in Birmingham, will be the
officiating minister. Francile was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 1916 and
lived there until 1941. Her parents were the late Grover “Shorty” and Pauline
Franklin. She is a graduate of Okmulgee High School and was an active
member of First Baptist Church. She married J. W. Newman of Okmulgee and
lived most of her married life (almost 60 years) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Through the years, Francile and J. W. ministered especially to children, youth
and international students. She is survived by two daughters and
sons-in-law, Sherri and Bob Kelley of Haskell and Linda and Bill Elder of
Birmingham, Alabama. She is also survived by three grandchildren and their
spouses, William H. Elder, IV (and Susie Elder) of Nashville, Linda
Kristin Elder Maner (and Brannon Maner) of Birmingham and Sally Franklin Elder
Young (and Kevin Young) of Birmingham. She also is survived by five great
granddaughters, Georgia, Zoe, Libbie, Caroline Francile and Lucy. In lieu
of flowers please contribute to the youth ministry of your local church.
