Fay E. Newton
Fay E. Newton, longtime Beggs resident, passed away Thursday morning, March 13, 2003 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was 97 years of age. Mrs. Newton was born October 11, 1905 to Mr. And Mrs. E.W. Daniels. She had resided in Beggs most of her life, until the last few months when she was living at the Baptist Village, which she enjoyed and appreciated. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beggs, Flower Club and Order of the Eastern Star. Fay was a devoted wife and mother, having cared for their son, who was stricken with polio and was paralyzed and on a respirator for nearly five years until his death. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ewell Newton, a son, Bobby Ewell Newton, a daughter, Wanda Pickett, and an infant daughter. Survivors include a son-in-law and wife, Lee and Betty Pickett, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs with Reverend Bruce Lamar of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
