Louis Lee Pickett

Louis Lee Pickett, longtime Beggs resident, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2003 at Glenpool Healthcare Center at the age of 76. He was born November 30, 1926 in Great Bend, Kansas to Lloyd and Dee (Foster) Pickett. Mr. Pickett was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving in World War II. He was a retired machinist from McDonnell Douglas, a member of the Beggs VFW Post, and the Okmulgee Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wanda Faye (Newton) Pickett.

Survivors include his wife, Betty (Yandell) Pickett of Beggs, two sons, Tom Pickett of Beggs and Steve Pickett of San Diego, California, a daughter, Linda Guinn of Beggs, a step-sister, JoAnn Long of Oklahoma City, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs with Reverend Robert Yandell of the First Assembly of God officiating. A private burial will be held at the Beggs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
