James Purdy

James Rowden Purdy, 74, longtime Beggs area resident, died Saturday evening, November 15, 2008 at his home. He was born November 6, 1934 in Beggs to Loren and Grace (Jarvis) Purdy. He lived many places throughout his life, but returned to Beggs over thirty years ago to be close to his family. He was a groundskeeper and had also worked as a security guard. His parents, a brother Norman Purdy and a sister, Dorothy Oswald preceded James in death. Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Frantz and husband Brian of Littleton, Colorado, Rebecca Lynn Rogers and husband Brian of Beggs and Norma Jean Carson of Wall, South Dakota, grandchildren, Sarah Frantz, Chloe Favor, Collin Rogers and Brandon Rogers, Cody Meeks and Kelley Meeks, a great grandchild, Harmony Meeks, sisters, Margie Fuqua and husband Albert of Beggs, Pat Reynolds of Beggs, Jackie Ledford and husband Bob of Beggs, Shirley Webb and husband Earl of Coweta and Linda Schachle and husband David of Jay, the mother of his children, Rosemarie Sharp of Henryetta and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 21, 2008 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs with Reverend David Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12-8 P.M. on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
