John Silas Rainwater
John Silas Rainwater passed away at his home in the Twin Hills area on Tuesday morning, March 25, 2003. He was 79 years of age. Mr. Rainwater was born January 19, 1924 north of Okmulgee to John Silas and Katherine (Vest) Rainwater. He grew up in Liberty-Morris, and farmed and was an oilfield pumper in the Twin Hills area all of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Okmulgee American Legion. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Joyce (Robison) on October 10, 1978, his parents, sisters, Dovie Groover, Ruby Flanagan, and Dee Williams, and brothers, Arthur Rainwater, Orville Rainwater, Arlis Rainwater, Earl Rainwater, and Ed Rainwater.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Alice Frances (Hutson-Rhodes) Rainwater of the home, three daughters, Jaree Porter of Liberty Morris, Cassie Sadler of Twin Hills, and DeeAnn Morgan of Liberty Morris, two step-daughters, Pamela Ann Hickey of Nashville and Darlene Welch of South Lake, Texas, a step-son, Raymond Godfrey of Okmulgee, nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
