Carl Nolen Rice

          Carl Nolen Rice, 75, died on Monday, March 9, 2009 near Beggs.  Carl was born on March 14, 1933 in Okfuskee, Oklahoma to Edgar Lee and Gracie (Arnold) Rice.  He put on professional rodeos since 1966, was a lifetime member of IPRA and a Bareback Champion.  Carl worked for McDonnell Douglas for thirty-seven years, was a former member of the Mounds School Board, a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and the National Guard.  He enjoyed tending to oil wells and rodeoing, but his boys were his life.

          Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Tiny Rice.

          He is survived by his two sons; Rick Rice and wife Cheryl of Bixby, and Mike Rice and wife Sandra, of Beggs, his wife, Peggy Sturm of Beggs, a sister, Evelyn Lynn and husband Dale of Beggs, brother Gene Rice and wife Pat, of Beggs, sister Sue Edmonds and husband Wiley of Carrollton, Texas.  He also has four grandchildren; Gayle Hahn, Justin Rice, Cody Harmon, and Cassy Rice, three great grandchildren, Connor Nolen Rice, Seth Hahn and Candance Hahn, and several nieces and nephews.

          Funeral services will held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the First Assembly of God Church.  Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery.  The Casket will remain closed.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.  Online condolences may be sent at www.mcclendon-winters.com
