"Dignity without compromise"


Merle St. Clair Tannery Rice, 94 year resident of Okmulgee resident, passed away Wednesday evening, October 30, 2002 in Tulsa at the age of 95. She was born October 18, 1907 in Cleburne, Texas to S.S. and Maude Estell(Croaks) Tannery. She married Wallace F. Rice on August 8, 1928. She was a retired legal secretary for Q.D. Gibbs for 15 years and A.D. Cochran for 27 years. She had also worked as a Secretary to the Officers of the Army at Glennan General Hospital. Mrs. Rice was a Charter Member and the Oldest Member of the First Christian Church of Okmulgee. She was a member of the BPW. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Harold Tannery.

Survivors include many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2002 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Charles Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Viewing will be from 8:30 until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the NEACCO/Small Congregations in care of the First Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
