Alta Rodgers

Alta Esther Rodgers 95, died in Okmulgee Thursday, September 18, 2008. She was born in Okmulgee County near Beggs on September 1, 1913 to Robert Harrison and Grace Pearl (Magee) Rodgers. Alta graduated from Okmulgee High School, Garden City Kansas School of Nursing, and after receiving her R.N., she graduated from the School of Anesthesia at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She moved back to Okmulgee from Houston in 1974 after she retired. She then worked as a teacherís aide at the Okmulgee Middle School for 12 years. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Church of Christ in Okmulgee. One brother, David Robert Rodgers, three sisters, Opal Ruth Tucci, Minnie Grace McGinnis, Dorothy Pearl Bailey and her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include one sister, Ruby and her husband Dale Byrd of Okmulgee, five nieces, Virginia Carter of Okmulgee, Linda King of McAlister, OK, Dorothy Jean Harrold of Tulsa, OK and Debra Rodgers of Great Bend, KS., three nephews, Steve Kaczynski of Okmulgee, Jim Rodgers of Great Bend, Kansas and Bill McGinnis of Florida.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Grand Avenue Church of Christ with Armando Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. There will be no public visitation. Condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com.
