Charlie Alphonso Rogers 90, longtime Okmulgee resident, died in Okmulgee on Saturday, June 13, 2009.  Charlie was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Will and Maude  (Williams) Rogers.  He worked for Ball Brothers Glass Company for 40 years and then drove a bus for the Morris School System.  Charlie loved his family, fiddling, Bee Keeping, Gardening, R Ving, and was well known as the Mascot for the Morris High School.  He even designed the uniform for the Mascot.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church in Morris.  His parents, a son Thomas Rogers, a grandson Jimmy Rogers, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include three sons, Charles and wife Sharon Rogers of Okmulgee, Roy Rogers of Henryetta, John and wife Charlene Rogers of Beggs, one daughter, Ellen McDonald of Nacona, Texas, two brothers, Elmer Rogers of Okmulgee Jimmy Rogers of Florida, twelve grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

 

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 am, Wednesday, at the Okmulgee Cemetery  with Rev. Ray Moffeit officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, 1-8 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.  Condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com.
