Betty Jo Sloan
Betty Jo Sloan went home to be with her
Lord and Savior on the evening of March 9, 2008 after a
valiantly fought battle with cancer. She was born on
February 17, 1927 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Jess and Gertrude
Crossland. She graduated from Muskogee High School, then
spent her career at Nelson Electric until her retirement.
Betty was married to Jim Frank Sloan for 52 years. They made
their home a gathering place for their loved ones. Betty was
a loving mother to her two children, daughter Donna J.
Cagle, and her son, Joe Wayne Ewing. She was preceded in
death by her parents, one brother and her beloved son. Left
to cherish her memory are her husband, Frank, daughter,
Donna, six loving grandchildren, Christopher Cooper
(Camille), Betty Rose (Ron), Tara Ewing (Josh), Clinton
Ewing, Jason Ewing, and Travis Ohls (Brandy), nine great
grandchildren, Chelsea, Drew, Lindsey (Michael), Rachel
(Jacob), Shelby, Tim, Michael, Justyse and Ian. Betty is
also survived by one sister, May Royce, two brothers, Jerry
Crossland (Willeen) and Thomas Crossland, and many nieces
and nephews. Betty Jo Sloan will be missed and remembered
for her kind and giving heart. Her unwavering faith is an
inspiration to all who were blessed to have known her. A
very special thanks to Hospice for all their care and
support. Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March
12, 2008 at the Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Muskogee.
Mr. Jim Waller will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral
home from 1-8 P.M. on Tuesday and the family will be present
to receive friends from 1-3. Arrangements are under the
direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
