Thomas (Tom) Edward Smith

Thomas (Tom) Edward Smith died in Okmulgee on Saturday, August 6, 2005. He was born in Okmulgee on January 21, 1950 to Richard and Carolyn Smith Sr. Tom graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1968, worked for Okmulgee County District 2 since July 1, 1996. Prior to returning to Okmulgee full time in 1996 to raise and care for his daughter, he was an active member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for nearly 20 years. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Margaret Stevie Smith, one brother, Richard A. Smith Jr., his aunt, Mary Houchin, his dedicated girlfriend and her son, Linda and John Segars, and many cousins.

Services and celebration of Tomís life will be at 10 am, Wednesday, at the McClendon-Winters Chapel with Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, 10-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, an education fund is being set up for his daughter Margaret. Contributions may be sent to the Margaret S. Smith Education Fund, c/o McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, 303 E. 7th, Okmulgee, Oklahoma 74447.

Pallbearers will be Craig Molet, Audie Stout, Terry Minyard, Roger Ballenger, Brian Thompson, Mike Patterson, Doug Hamilton, John Segars and Kobe Molet. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Okmulgee High School Class of 1968.
