Raymond Smith

Raymond Szalankiewicz Smith, 88, died on October 12, 2008 in Okmulgee. He was born in Okmulgee on August 8, 1920 to Stanley and Mary Szalankiewicz.

Mr. Smith married Ruth Coenen on November 28, 1948 in Okmulgee, OK. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air corps and served in World War II. He worked for Southwestern Sheet Glass, American St. Gobain, and retired from the Okmulgee Post Office in 1982.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Joe and twin brother Marion, six sisters, Stella, Josephine, Stephanie, Wanda, Mary Francis, and Veronica.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, one son Robert and his wife Kathy of Yuko, OK, one daughter Sharon and her husband Mike Brannon of Morris, OK, three grandchildren, Jerrod, Kyle and Lori, two great grandchildren Michael and Cody.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Rev. David Hamilton officiating on Wednesday at 2 pm. There will be no public visitation. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
