Roberta Hope Smith

Roberta Hope Smith, longtime Hoffman resident, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.. She was 83 years of age. Mrs. Smith was born March 27, 1920 in Tupelo, Oklahoma to Robert and Addie (Profitt) Goff. She married Ted Smith on October 3, 1940 in Stonewall, Oklahoma. In 1950, Hope and Ted moved to Hoffman, where she raised their children and was involved with her husbandís role as superintendent of schools. She was a member of the Morris United Methodist Church and was formerly involved with the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed ceramics, toll painting, needle point and cross stitching, but she truly loved her garden and flowers.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Dennis Edward Smith and one grandson, Davy Jess Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Ted, of the home, a daughter, Judy Childress and husband Bill of Cushing, two sons, Doug B. Smith of Dewar and Dickie Ted Smith and wife LouAnn of Hoffman, a brother, Douglas Goff of Kingman, Arizona, a sister, Bobby Goss of Stonewall, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren, Cash Childress of Springdale, Arkansas, Eddie Smith of Inola, Candice Tower, Stillwater, Darin Smith of Dewar, Misty Lynch of Hoffman, Jason Childress of Drumright, Larry Smith of Dewar, Jody Smith of Hoffman, Jill Smith of Hoffman, and Jace Smith of Hoffman, and nineteen great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Reverends Don Walker and Mark Milligan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
