"Dignity without compromise"
Violet Rose Snelson, lifelong Okmulgee resident, passed away Sunday morning, September 15, 2002 at the age of 87. She was born November 7, 1914 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Clarence and Carrie (Meyer) Brant. She attended school and graduated from Okmulgee High School. She married Roy Snelson and was a cook for the Okmulgee Public Schools prior to her retirement. She worked at the Roosevelt and Wilson Schools. She was a member of Grand Avenue Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy, on March 9, 1973, and a son, Bill Snelson.
Survivors include a son, Jim Snelson and wife Doris of Bartlesville, two daughters, Carolyn Wallace and husband Harry of Tulsa and Connie Reed and husband Floyd of Okmulgee, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the Grand Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Jack Shock officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery with grandsons serving as casketbearers. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10-8 PM on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
