Lewis Lee Sterner

Lewis Lee Sterner, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died Wednesday, July 5, 2005 at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Sterner was born October 17, 1923 in Belle Vernon, PA to James L. and Adda (Gibson) Sterner. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country honorable during World War II. He was a pipeliner, retiring from D&D Pipeline Construction and was a member of the VFW Post 1189. Preceding him in death were his parents, and six siblings, Mervin, William, Roy and Donald Sterner, Alverda Helmken and Glenna Richwine. Survivors include a step-daughter, Rhonda Downing of Ft. Smith, a sister, Joan Peters of Belle Vernon, PA, a brother, Alvin Sterner of Belle Vernon, PA and several nieces and nephews who loved him very much.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Okmulgee Cemetery Military Field with Reverend Dal Newberry officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee and VFW Post 539 of Henryetta. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12-8 P.M. on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
