Preston Franklin Stowers

Preston Franklin Stowers, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Friday night, December 19, 2003 at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 93. Preston was born November 20, 1910 in Calico Rock, Arkansas to Demetrious E. "Babe" Stowers and Martha Elizabeth (Payne) Stowers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Maxine(Gardner) Stowers in 2002, his parents, two brothers, Eugene and Emanuel Stowers and two sisters, Amanza Kurtner and Gilla Berkhart. Preston was a member of the Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired after 37 years of service from Phillips Petroleum as a blender. Survivors include his brother, Russell Stowers and wife Doris of Claremore, two sisters, Eula Mae Cubic of Banning, California and Jewell Patterson of Orange, California and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon, Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Wesley Berry officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
