Bessie Marie Taylor 96,
former resident of Okmulgee, died in Tulsa on Friday, July 3, 2009.
She was born February 18, 1913 in Hoffman, Oklahoma to Olo and Maud (Strosneider)
Bannon. She attended Okmulgee Jr.
College and married Harry J. Taylor in 1941.
Mrs. Taylor was secretary for the Ben Harned Company for many years.
During her life she was active with hobbies of sewing, quilting, and
canning from her husband’s garden.
She was also very active in The First Christian Church being a member of the
Edna Poole Group and also the Okmulgee Pony Girls.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and
eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three
daughters; Mary Beth Divis of Garland, Texas, Kathrine and husband Warren Jones
of Knoxville, Tennessee, Cynthia McDonald of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a son;
James and wife Johnna Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two sisters; Laverna Walser of
Wichita, Kansas and Betty Wilson of Pasadena, Texas, eleven grandchildren and
three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 2pm at
the First Christian Church in Okmulgee with Rev. Charles Green officiating.
Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Monday 1-8 pm.
The family will be available at the funeral home Monday 6-8 pm.
Memorial may be made in her name to the First Christian Church in
Okmulgee.
