Ruth Romayne Thorman

Ruth Romayne Thorman 84, longtime resident of Okmulgee died on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in Okmulgee. She was born in Mansfield, Missouri on July 27, 1920 to George H. and Cleo (Smith) Ayers. She attended and graduated from high school in Hartville, Missouri came to Okmulgee, where she went to Okmulgee Business College and married Jack Thorman in 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son; James Thorman. Mrs. Thorman was a member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee.

Survivors include her husband Jack Thorman of Lakewood Care Living Center in Tulsa, one son and his wife Dr. Jerry and Judy Thorman of Okmulgee, one brother and his wife Bill and Naomi Ayers of Okmulgee, one sister Mazel Claxton of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, two grand daughters; Dr. Jennifer and her husband Dr. Jason Cook of Tulsa and Jerilynn Thorman of Tulsa and three great grandchildren; Madeline Cook, Conner Cook and Aidan Cook all of Tulsa and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Dr. Dennis Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. The casket will be closed.

The family suggests contributions in her name be made to the American Cancer Society, The Alzheimer’s Association, or the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee.
