Betty Jo Tillman

Betty Jo (Lay) Tillman, a resident of Okmulgee, died Sunday morning, September 21, 2008 at the age of 78 at Cimarron Pointe in Mannford. She was born March 31, 1930 in Tomahawk, Arkansas to Doss and Cinda (Keeling) Lay. She married Leo Cecil Tillman on January 21, 1956 in Tulsa. She graduated from Draughn Business College and the OSU Commercial Art Program. Betty was a retired secretary at OSU-Okmulgee. She enjoyed arts and crafts and her flower gardening, especially growing violets. She was an active member of the OSU County Extension, Bridge Club and the First Baptist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Elijah Jackson Lay. Survivors include her husband, Leo Tillman, two daughters, Cecilia Tillman Crews and husband James of Willis, Texas and Lisa Hope Jones and husband Kenny of Sachse, Texas, four grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Crews and Jason Seth and Sydney Ann Jones, a brother, Dick Lay and wife Carol of Prue and a sister, Barbara Cypert of Prue. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Prue with Reverends Bill Lay and Garry McDevitt officiating.
