Leo Tillman

Leo Cecil Tillman, a resident of Okmulgee died on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the age of 78. He was born on June 29, 1930 to James and Mae (Whisenant) Tillman in Cookson, Oklahoma. Mr. Tillman was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. He married Betty Jo Lay in Tulsa on January 21, 1956. He later lived in North Africa while working for an oil company, and retired from OSU-Okmulgee in 1988 where he was an accounting professor. Mr. Tillman was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bridge Club and the Lions Club in Prue, Oklahoma. He loved gardening, fishing and will be remembered always helping others. His parents, wife; Betty Jo, three brothers; Edmond Tillman, Charles Tillman, Gene Tillman, three sisters; Betty Easley, Juanita Spencer, Pauline Giner and one niece; Vicky Brooks preceded him in death.

Surviving him are two loving daughters; Cecilia Tillman Crews and husband James of Willis, Texas and Lisa Hope Jones and husband Kenny of Sachse, Texas, four grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Crews and Jason Seth and Sydney Ann Jones, two brothers; Clarence Tillman and his wife Bernice and Bill Tillman and his wife Linda.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Prue, Oklahoma at 2 pm with Reverend Bill Lay officiating. Interment will follow in the Prue Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Military services will be conducted at that time.
