***Ministerís Obituary***

Basil "B.A." Tommey, longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 86. He was born August 27, 1916 in Gracemont, Oklahoma to Austin Melvin and Eula America (Compton) Tommey. He married Armella Peters on November 10, 1939. He was an accountant at Fidler-Harlan Motor Company prior to retirement. Mr. Tommey was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. He enjoyed watching the stock market and being with his family.

Mr. Tommey was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harvey Tommey and Gene Tommey, and sisters, Jeanette Wilson and Edna Hancock.

Survivors include his wife, Armella, of the home,

son, Tommie Dean Tommey and wife Sharon of Bixby and Austin Melvin Tommey and wife Pam of Jenks,

a daughter, Brenda Tommey Dean and husband Carl of Norman,

six grandchildren Kimberly Davis of Fort Worth, TX, Will Tommey of Jenks, Katrina McGlothin of Bixby, Brannon Tommey of Boulder, CO Michael Tommey Dean and Sylvia Dean both of Norman, and

six great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Reverend Dal Newberry officiating. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Food Pantry.
