McCLENDON-WINTERS FUNERAL HOME "Dignity without Compromise"
Judith Ann Turnage Judith Ann Turnage, know as "Granny" by
her family and friends, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at
her home near Beggs at the age of 67. She was born September
24, 1939 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to the late Leonard "Brandy"
Culver and Nancy Voncille (Sumpter) Harjo. She attended
Locust Grove Elementary School and then moved to Pryor where
she attended Junior High School. She graduated high school
from Bartlesville College High School and then attended
Business School in Bartlesville working as a secretary. Judy
married Claude Odell Turnage in December 1970 in Las Vegas,
Nevada. They established a home in Claremore where she was
employed by the Indian Health Service. She retired in 1996
after 20 years of being dedicated to her job. Judy and Odell
moved to Beggs in the same year to care for her beloved
grandchildren, who she loved to attend sporting activities,
rodeos and stock shows with. She also enjoyed reading and
embroidery as well as playing cards and games with her
grandkids. Judy was a member of the Ladies of the Elks. Judy
was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers,
Eddie and Leo Don Culver. Survivors include her husband,
Odell Turnage of Beggs, two daughters, Kendall Ellis of
Mounds, a daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Tom Stamper, of
Mounds, two granddaughters, Mollie and Brittany Stamper and
two grandsons, Pake and Sam Stamper, all of Mounds, a
step-mother, Sis Culver of Fayettville, Arkansas, three
brothers, John Culver of San Roman, California, Billy Culver
of Grove, Oklahoma and Curtis Culver of Houston, Texas, two
sisters, Evelyn Faulkner of Las Vegas, Nevada and Betty
Culver of Pawhuska and a host of nieces and nephews. A
funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 9,
2007 at the Crossroads Baptist Church with Brother Travis
Markes officiating. Interment will be in the Spavinaw-Strang
Cemetery at 3:30 P.M. Casketbearers will be Randall Beams,
Ricky Beams, James Sensibaugh, Daniel Lalli, Stacy Zachary
and Mike Randol. Honorary Casketbearers will be Richard
Beams and Roger Coday. Friends may visit the funeral home
from 12-8 P.M. Thursday evening. Arrangements are under the
direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
