Jerry Umsted

Jerry Lee “Josh” Umsted was born January 5, 1942 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to the late Troy Leon and Nola Maxine (Chastain) Umsted.  He passed from this life on February 17, 2009 at the age of 67.  He loved the Lord with all of his heart and was a member of Christ the King Church of Restoration.  Josh had a wonderful sense of humor and was a friend to everyone he met.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren play basketball, and traveling.   He married Cathryn Brown on November 1, 1960 in Dumas, Texas.  

Josh is survived by his loving wife, Cathryn, of the home, two daughters, Tamra Kilgore and husband Cecil Kilgore, Jr.  and Vikki Goodwin and husband Phillip Goodwin and two grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Goodwin, all of Okmulgee.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee with Reverend Jimmy Lopez officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wetumka Cemetery.  Casketbearers will be Rick Dixon, Glenn Moten, Freddie Chastain, Bret Green, Billy Umsted and Ronny Brown.  Honorary Casketbearers will be Dr. John Garis, Larkin Terry and Ken Popejoy.  Friends may visit the funeral home from 1-8 P.M. Friday and the family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M.
