Art Vernon Wagoner
Art Vernon Wagoner, longtime resident of Warner, died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was 75 years of age. Art was born March 3, 1931 in Beggs, Oklahoma to Troy and Alice (Ludwig) Wagoner. He graduated from Beggs High School where he was active in athletics, especially basketball. He later served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Art was a diesel and small engine repair man, and maintenance mechanic on off shore drilling rigs for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Diane Wagoner, six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Charles Richard Wagoner of Warner, Allen Wagoner of Belton, Texas and Mitchell Wagoner of Tulsa, a daughter, Peggy Gail Brittenham of Tulsa, five sisters, Eula Swanson of Beggs, Beaula St. Cyr of Lancaster, California, Dorothy Reed of New Orleans, Betty MacDavis of Beggs, and Geneva Keith of Beggs, three brothers, Troy Wagoner of Tulsa, Johnny Hamilton of Beggs and Jimmy Hamilton of Sand Springs, his beloved friend, Gertrud Kusler and Family, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Beggs with Reverend David Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Donnie Kusler, Josh Kusler, Tyson Fuqua, Dick Goss, Danny Watts, and Bill Adair. Honorary casketbearers will be Larry Patton, Reggie Ball, Joe Cash, Jack Chambers, and Steve Conrad. Viewing will be Tuesday morning starting at 10 A.M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 9152 of Warner in Artís memory. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
