Brother Oscar Wantiez
Bro. Oscar Wantiez, Okmulgee, went to be
with the Lord on Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the age of 84. He was born on
May 22, 1924 in Dewar, OK to Oscar and Lea (Maniez) Wantiez. He married Jessie
Bell Christenberry on November 16, 1946, in Dewar, OK, his wife of 61 years.
He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater
on the aircraft carrier USS Shamrock Bay. He moved to Okmulgee in 1950 and
worked at ASG Industries for 25 years, and retired from Braden Winch in 1989.
He was well loved by all of his family and friends. He was
very devoted father and loving husband who enjoyed gardening, fishing and
growing Loblolly pine trees at his farm on the North Canadian River in McIntosh
County, Oklahoma.
Mr. Wantiez is preceded in death by his parents, two
brothers, Pete Manson and Frank Wantiez, and two sisters, Flora Whipple and Leah
Bissett. He is survived by his wife Jessie Bell Wantiez of Okmulgee; three sons,
Oscar Dale and wife Terri Wantiez of Tulsa, Pete Dwain Wanttiez of Odessa, TX,
and Jimmy Darl Wantiez of Okmulgee; one grand son Pete Ryan Wantiez and wife
Shasta of Midland, TX, and one granddaughter, Chrystal Renea Carpenter and
husband Eric of Midland, TX; and three great grandchildren, Ryan Taylor, Aubree
Jolie Wantiez and Paton James Carpenter.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, at 3:00 pm, September
13, 2008 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Pastor John Proctor of the Deliverance
Tabernacle Church officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, 12-8 pm at the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at
