Dorothy Irene ‘Dot’ Wilson Dorothy Irene ‘Dot’ Wilson, a long time
Okmulgee resident, passed from this life on Friday, march 9,
2007. Dorothy was born on February 7, 1918 in Texas to
Robert Harrison Hammons and Daisy Mable Dean Hammons, the
middle child of seven children born to that union. She had
just celebrated her 89th birthday with a host of
family and friends. She was married to Vernice Ray Wilson on
June 21, 1945 in Austin, Texas, upon his return from being
held as a prisoner of war in Krems, Austria. Together they
had two daughters, Judy Kaye and Linda Rae. During recent years when congestive heart
failure made it difficult to manage independently, she was
loving cared for at her home by her daughter and son-in-law;
lifelong family friend, Carrieanna Mabrey; caregivers: Cathy
Anderson, Cleo Swayze, Donna Guinn, Ann soma, Loyce
Ledbetter, Carla Jean Smith, Rita Payne, Judy Hankins and
Carla Smith. She was greeted in heaven by her parents,
her husband of 59 years to whom she was the consummate
caregiver during his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease;
her loving daughter, Judy Kaye Evans, brothers and sisters:
Jestin Hammons, Edwin Lee ‘Cub’ Hammons, Alene Ford Arnold,
Wanda Randolph and Bonnie Mason. Left to remember and carry on her legacy
are her youngest daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Terry
Moore of Okmulgee; brother, Jim Hammons and wife Jean of
Muskogee; grandsons, Ryan and Jeff Evans of Tulsa, Shawn
Evans of Arkansas; granddaughters and husbands, Lindsay and
Eric Buell of Pasadena, MD, Casey and Jeremie Miller of
Moore, OK; great granddaughters, Ashlynn Rae Evans and Anna
Kaye Evans; and soon-to-be born her first great grandson,
Greyson Terrell Buell; sisters-in-law, Hazel Rutherford,
Helen Wilson and Earlene Stains. She also is survived by a
host of nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that donations be made to a fund set up for her red-headed
legacy, her 2 year old great niece, Summer Jean Simons, who
has been battling acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) since she

on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the McClendon-Winters chapel
at 4:00 p.m. There will be no viewing and the family will
