Charlie Frank (C.F.) Withers

Charlie Frank (C.F.) Withers, 82, of Beggs died May 6, 2003. He was born February 15, 1921 in Edna, Oklahoma to John Franklin and Myrtle (Everett) Withers.

He married his wife of sixty years, Betty Jean (Rose) on May 15, 1943 in Sapulpa.

Charlie was a rancher and farmer. He lived and worked in Beggs all his life. In addition to his farm, he worked for the Beggs Water Department, Page-Glencliff (Hiland) Dairies and was a self employed dairyman from 1950-1966. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

Charlie was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Beggs, serving in leadership capacities including Chairman of the Official Board, Chairman of the Trustees, and Building Committee. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a 50 year member and past master of Beggs Lodge #319, a member of the York Rite of Okmulgee.

He served the Okmulgee County Conservation District Board as a member for 20 years including a term as chair; the Farm Bureau in various leadership capacities for 20 years; the Beggs School Board; Okmulgee County Election Board; Beggs Lion’s Club with a term as president; American Legion-Lovell-Buckley Post; and the Republican Party of Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife Betty, of the home; three daughters, Vicki Phillips and husband John of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Carol Naranjo and husband David of Bethany, Oklahoma, and Jane Withers of Beggs, four grandchildren, Susana (Naranjo) Arguello and husband Steven, Tony Naranjo, Mark and Brian Phillips and a brother Irvan Withers and wife Wanda of Midland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, infant son, and by sisters Opal Johnson, Juanita Withers and Jessie Faye Withers.

Funeral services are at 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 9, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church of Beggs with Reverend David Sanders officiating. Burial will be in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Kenneth Buckley, George Everett, Larry Harvey, Buzzy Henson, Richard Mitchell, and Bill Wylie. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
