Alice J. (Wilson) Wootten

Alice J. (Wilson) Wootten, passed away Monday, July 21, 2003 at the age of 66. She was born in Sterling, Oklahoma to Roy and Caldonia (Wallace) Wilson on October 20, 1936 and was an Okmulgee resident of 33 years. She married Col. Charles W. Wootten, Sr. on January 14, 1955 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a member of the Okmulgee Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She had worked at Ball Brothers and then at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital in Medical records, prior to her retirement. She is survived by her daughter Pam Wadsworth and her husband Louie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her daughter Lisa Bennett and her husband Todd of The Colony, Texas, her son Charles Wootten Jr. and his wife Becky of Owasso, Oklahoma, her youngest son Scott Wootten of Los Angeles, California, two sisters, Joyce Avritt of Lawton and Helen Marshall of Houston, Texas, as well as many loyal friends. Alice was the proud grandmother of Justin and Rachel Bennett and Lindsay Wadsworth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Melton, Jess and Jack Wilson, and four sisters, Fannie Howell, Dortha Driskoll, Bobby Jean Wooley, and Peggy Jo Roulo.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 2003 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating. The Family will receive friends in the church foyer following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
